Assignment #1 - Scavenger Hunt

The object of this assignment is really to break you guys in on your cameras in a fun and interesting (yet challenging) way. You will want to run through all of your controls during this assignment, so don't worry about shooting too many images.

Here is a list of things that you should try to shoot.

Loaf of bread
gallon of milk
bowl of cereal (don't forget to eat it since you've already poured the bowl and have the milk out)
bottom of a shoe
picture of the sky (no horizon...shoot straight up)
something black
something white
something red (why bother shooting red? We'll look at them in class and talk about it)
the coolest part of the car in your driveway (detail shot)
something tiny (get close)
something big (wide-angle)
something moving (show me some blur...)
your pet
your left hand
something your parents want a picture of

If you don't get all of these shot, don't worry about it. Just get as much as you can. Give yourself at least 100 shots on this assignment...you will be surprised how fast you will shoot 100 frames. Don't just take one frame of each object. Take at least 10 frames of each object. Try to work it and see what it will do as you move around it and explore the object.

These images will be due on the first day of class next week. You will need to have them in order to practice uploading to the server, looking at them in Adobe Bridge, and opening them in Photoshop.

These aren't supposed to be 'great art', but you should still try to make them visually interesting and not put me to sleep.

Bring your cameras and memory cards to school on the first class period of next week and we will go over getting them out of the camera and into the computer.

Remember...DON'T STRESS about this assignment. You will be stressing plenty later on, this one is almost a 'freebie'.
